Job Reports provide comprehensive insights into workforce demands by analyzing job descriptions and comparing required skills against your educational programs. These reports help you understand regional employment needs, identify skills gaps, and align your curriculum with industry requirements to better prepare students for the job market.

Before You Start

To generate Job Reports, you’ll need:
  • At least one job added to your organization with processed job descriptions
  • Academic programs or stackable credentials with course sections containing extracted skills
  • Job descriptions that have been processed through the AI skills extraction system
Processing Requirements: Jobs must have uploaded job description documents that have been processed for skills extraction. Without processed job descriptions, reports cannot analyze skills requirements.

What Job Reports Show You

Job Reports answer critical workforce alignment questions:
  • Skills Gap Analysis: Which job-required skills are your programs teaching effectively, and which need attention?
  • Course Effectiveness: How well do individual courses prepare students for specific job roles?
  • Market Alignment: How closely do your educational offerings match current job market demands?
  • Curriculum Planning: Where should you focus curriculum development to meet employer needs?

Understanding Report Types

Job Reports offer three distinct analysis perspectives, each designed for different workforce planning needs:

Skills Gap Analysis

Purpose: Identify which job-required skills your programs teach effectively and which need curriculum attention This comprehensive analysis breaks down every skill requirement from selected jobs and shows:
  • Skill Relevance: Whether skills are “Core” (essential for the job) or “Relevant” (beneficial but not critical)
  • Proficiency Coverage: How well your courses teach each required skill as a percentage
  • Course Contributions: Which specific courses contribute to each skill and by how much
  • Gap Identification: Skills where your program falls short of job requirements
The analysis uses a percentage-based system where 100% means your program fully meets the job’s skill requirement. Skills are displayed in an interactive table showing:
  • Meets Requirement: Visual progress indicators showing whether each skill meets the job’s needs
  • Course Breakdown: Individual course contributions for each skill across all your program’s courses
Skills Processing Required: Only jobs with processed job descriptions will show skills data. Ensure your job descriptions have been uploaded and processed through the AI extraction system.

Course Breakdown

Purpose: Understand how individual courses contribute to job readiness This detailed analysis provides:
  • Skills by Course: What specific skills each course teaches relative to job requirements
  • Course Effectiveness: How much each course contributes to overall job preparation
  • Curriculum Distribution: Whether job-relevant skills are taught across multiple courses or concentrated in specific ones
  • Optimization Opportunities: Courses that could be enhanced to better serve job market needs
The breakdown helps curriculum planners understand which courses are most valuable for job preparation and where enhancements might have the greatest impact.

Course Contribution Chart

Purpose: Visualize the skills development landscape for job preparation This interactive visualization shows:
  • Skills Mapping: Graphical representation of which courses teach job-relevant skills
  • Proficiency Levels: Visual indicators of how deeply each skill is covered
  • Program Overview: At-a-glance understanding of job preparation strengths
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ideal for presenting workforce alignment to administrators or employers
Use the Course Contribution Chart when presenting to employers or workforce development boards to demonstrate how your programs align with their needs.

Interpreting Job Report Data

Skills Proficiency Levels

Job Reports use a standardized proficiency system:
  • Core Skills: Essential skills that are critical for job success (marked with green “CORE” badges)
  • Relevant Skills: Important skills that enhance job performance (marked with blue “RELEVANT” badges)

Coverage Percentages

The percentage system shows alignment strength:
  • 100%+: Your program exceeds job requirements for this skill
  • 75-99%: Strong coverage with minor gaps
  • 50-74%: Moderate coverage requiring attention
  • Below 50%: Significant skill gaps requiring curriculum development

Visual Indicators

Reports use consistent visual cues:
  • Green Check/Badge: Skill requirements met or exceeded
  • Red X: Skill gaps requiring attention
  • Progress Bars: Visual representation of coverage percentages
  • Course Links: Direct navigation to course details for curriculum planning
